Russell has spent the last 20 years in eCommerce and the Equestrian / Pet Jewelry and Gifts industry. In 1999 Russell started an eCommerce company while attending Lackawanna College. The business grew to $10,000 a month in sales in the first few months. Russell and his partner created some of the earliest automated posting tools which were built to sell items on eBay and the internet. By the second year, the business had grown to $1M in online sales. In 2002 Russell was approached by the FTC to opine on the merger of eBay and PayPal. The company at that time was one of the top 10 users of PayPal by way of transaction volume. Russell soon after that joined forces with a larger company Choice Brands Group.
“Russell has always been an early adopter and just “gets” technology and how to apply it to marketing and selling online. Combine that with his ability to understand the operational side of businesses – from finance to the warehouse – and he can pretty much figure out or find out how to accomplish what a business needs” ~ Jeff Stayner, Retail Strategist
Capitalizing on his eCommerce background, Russell began to implement digital strategies to sell products via websites, eBay, Amazon and other marketplaces. Russell’s efforts enabled Choice Brands Group to be one of the top 50 eBay users and sellers in the world. Russell helped CBG stay at the forefront of a changing internet landscape by leveraging in-house developed software with external best in class providers. Over the last 20 years, Russell has managed the IT Departments, new acquisition integrations, third-party vendors for digital marketing and Business Intelligence, Managed Operations including warehouse and customer service and developed execution strategies for Amazon, eBay, Jet, and digital commerce relationships.
Upon leaving CBG, Russell joined forces with Chris Duggan and her team as a partner in BrandNexity, to take the experience he has a retailer and apply it to brands who are venturing into the D2C arena. These companies are often skilled at manufacturing and B2B, but do not have the eCommerce experience they need to be at the forefront of internet marketing and logistics.
